More than 35,000 tastings sold at the XVIII Monterrei Wine Fair
03/09/2025Tomorrow 8 August will begin the three days of celebration of the XVIII Wine Fair of Monterrei, in which cultural activities are planned, enogastronomic and musical.
The main will be the fair that will take place in the plaza de la Alameda, and in which this edition will be present the following wineries: Gargalo, Adega Valderello, Crego e Monaguillo, Quinta do Buble, Terras do Cigarrón, Triay, Adega Tapias Mariñán, 3 Mentiras, Vía Arxéntea, Abeledos, Setembro, Bodega Franco Basalo, Adegas Daniel Fernández, Adega Trasdovento, Quinta Soutullo, Manuel Vázquez Losada, Serra de Alén and Ramón Bigotes.
The opening hours of the stands will be as follows: Friday from 20.00 to 24.00 h. (early sale from 19.00 h), Saturday 09 from 12.30 to 14.30 h. and from 19.30 to 01.00 h., and Sunday 10 from 12.30 to 14.30 h.
In addition to the stands of the wineries, there will be food stalls suitable for all palates (Jamones Don Francisco, Panadería Roscas, Gofres Matilde, Alacena-Puebla de Sanabria, Queixeria Gaia, Cuscus Foodtruck, Cortador de jamón Juan Álvarez – Jamones Antonio Martín Verín, Cien por Cel, Cárnicas de Feces and Casa do Pulpo).
The opening of the XVIII Feria Vino de Monterrei will be tomorrow, starting at 8 pm, in Plaza García Barbón, and the announcement will be made by the actress Mariana Carballal. Previously, at 18.30 hours, will be held in the Parish Church of Verín, the act of medal ceremony of the Cofradía de los Vinos de Monterrei. This time will be Xosé Manuel Santiago Afonso, José Manuel Goméz Gómez and Manuel Pardo Cid. Entry is free until full capacity,
Already in the days of 09 and 10 August, will be held commented tastings and showcookings, for adults. ‘Monterrei, sips of history and trend’ are planned (at 13 hours on Saturday, by Juanjo Figueroa, president of the Galician Association of Sumilleres -AGASU- and image of the promotional campaign of the D.O. Monterrei “Non lle deas máis voltas”); and ‘Come, bebe e aprende do mellor xeito’ (with the participation of Begoña Vázquez – award for best chef in Galicia 2024-, Miguel López -technical director of C.R.D.O. Monterrei- and José Manuel Salgado -professor at CMUS Verín). It will also be on Saturday, but already at 8 pm. And the last of them, the tasting paired with products from “Experiences of Calidade de Galicia” presented as ‘Monterrei: Atlantic Freshness, Continental Character’, will take place on Sunday at 13 hours (and will be made by Martin Touceda -responsible for the family business Cien by Cel- and Juliana Picarelli -sumiller of the Restaurant Maruja Limón 1 Michelin star and 2 soles Repsol). On the other hand, and already for children, during the weekend, from 20 to 22 hours, popular games will be held inside the Alameda.
