The wineries participating in this initiative have been Ladairo, Pazo das Tapias, Gargalo, Castro de Lobarzán, José Luis Gómez Ibáñez (Valderello), José Antonio Da Silva Pereira (Vinos Lara), José Luis Mateo García (Quinta da Muradella), Crego e Monaguillo, Minius, Terras do Cigarrón, Triay, Pazo Blanco Núñez (Tapias Mariñán), Fragas do Lecer, Vía Arxéntea, Abeledos, Pazo de Valdeconde, Tabú, Alba Al-Bar (Daniel Fernández), Fausto Rivero (Quinta Soutullo), Manuel Vázquez Losada, Alejandro Ramón Blanco Dijkhoff (Ramón Bigotes) and Terra de Godello.
A young, diverse and surprising name
The D.O. Monterrei currently has 29 wineries and more than 798 hectares of vineyards, located in the southeast of the province of Ourense. Although it is known for its whites of Godello and Treixadura, and its reds of Mencía, has also surprised in Bilbao with wines made from other varieties such as Doña Blanca or Albariño in white, and Tempranillo, Sousón or Caíño Tinto in inks.
A variety richness that adds to the great diversity of its territory, soils and a unique microclimate: warmer than other Galician areas, temperate Mediterranean character but with continental influence. All this makes the wines of Monterrei have an unmistakable personality and very different from each other.
