The D.O. Monterrei participates in Gastrónoma Valencia
22/10/2025The Monterrei Designation of Origin has completed the 2025 vintage season, achieving a historic harvest with 8,072,785.7 kilograms of grapes harvested.
With regard to the number of varieties harvested, 6,342,752 kilograms of white grapes were collected, while 1,730,033.7 kilograms of red grapes were collected, that is, 78.57% of white varieties and the remaining 21.43% of inks.
The harvest campaign began on September 7, with the Francisco Pérez Diéguez winery and ended on October 10, with Manuel Regueiro García and Pazo das Tapias being the last wineries to announce the closure of the grape harvest period.
This campaign has been characterized by the excellent phytosanitary condition of the grapes, with a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity.
Despite the fires of last August, the degree of damage to the vineyard registered in the D.O. Monterrei has not caused a significant decrease in the area of production, exceeding for the first time eight million kilograms of grapes, This is 5% more than in the 2024 campaign.
The president of the Regulatory Council, Manuel Vázquez Losada states that “these data are due to the increase in hectares in our territorial base going from 795 in the last campaign to the current 852”. Also, the president wants to “remember and thank the work of winegrowers and winemakers, throughout the year, because without them, this would not be possible”.
