Types of covered Wine

White Monterrei: Elaborated with one of the white varieties accepted by the D.O. Monterrei.

They must contain a minimum of 11º/vol. alcohol content, as well as a maximum volatile acidity of 0,75 g/l.

Also a minimum total acidity of 4,5 g/l of tartaric acid, and a sulfur content of no more than 200 mg/l.

 

Monterrei Rosé: Elaborated with a minimum of 85% red grape varieties approved by the D.O Monterrei.

They must contain a minimum of 11º/vol. alcohol content, as well as a maximum volatile acidity of 0,80 /l.

Also a minimum total acidity of 4 g/l of tartaric acid, and a sulfur content of no more than 200 mg/l..

 

Red Monterrei Elaborated with one of the red varieties accepted by the D.O. Monterrei

The minimum alcohol content must be 11º/vol., as well as a maximum volatile acidity of 0,80 /l.

In addition they must have a minimum total acidity of 4 g/l of tartaric acid, and a sulfur content of no more than 150 mg/l.

Monterrei white and red wines, can be aged in oak barrels and may use the terms Barrica, Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva, according to current legislation.

The minimum alcohol content of Monterrei wines must be 12º/l for red wines and 11,5º/l for white wines.

They must also have a maximum volatile acidity of 1,08 g/l for white wines and 1,2 g/l for red wines.

The minimum total acidity per liter of tartaric acid must be 4,5 g/l for white wines and 4 g/l for red ones. They also must have a sulfur content of no more than 150 mg/l for red wines and 200 mg/l for white wines.

Monterrei Rosé 

Visual phase: Clean and bright, from low to medium layer. Shades going from pale pink to cherry red.

Smelling phase: Fruity scents like:

  • Red or black berries.

Tasting phase: Fruity flavours like:

  • Red or black berries. Balanced alcohol acidity and also medium to high persistence.

 

Red Monterrei

Visual phase; Clean and bright, medium or high layer. Colour from dark red to chestnut red.

Smelling phase; Fruit scents from some of the following;

  • Red or black fruits

Tasting phase: Fruit scents from some of the following;

  • Red or black fruits. Balanced in alcohol-acidity. Medium or high persistence.
