03/12/2025The Regulatory Council of D.O. Monterrei, continuing with the bet on the promotion and business development of its wineries, has just organized the visit of an international delegation from Finland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
This initiative has involved Heidi Makinen (Master of Wine), Thomas Rydberg (specialist journalist), Alexandra Banhidi (president of the Swiss Sommelier Association), Michaela Daffner and Wieger Roelevink (purchasing managers, respectively).
Over three days they have been part of an intense program that has included visits to wineries, to know their projects, discover their vineyards and get closer to their elaborations. On this occasion, the wineries Ladairo, Triay, Fragas do Lecer, Gargalo and Terras do Cigarrón have joined this initiative. In addition, the program of activities has also contemplated a masterclass at the headquarters of the entity, in order to offer information about this wine territory, its edaphoclimatic singularities, grape varieties, typology of wines and evolution of the name in recent decades. Not forgetting the most practical part, through a tasting with 43 references belonging to 21 wineries registered in the Regulatory Board.
“This is the first time that we have carried out a reverse mission with these characteristics,” says the president of the entity, Manuel Vázquez Losada. “It allows professionals to know first-hand our wine designation, and can get a complete idea of the work being done by the wineries; as well as the Regulatory Board to retain or increase the market share of our wines in their respective countries”.
