This morning, the headquarters of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Monterrei hosted the 2022 Harvest Qualification Tasting.
Representatives of professional associations, media, Regulatory Councils and the official panel of the denomination have participated in this tasting, which have qualified the 2022 vintage of Monterrei wines as “very good”. This tasting team has highlighted: “in white, it is a vintage of lots of fruit, perfect to consume, but without losing the essence of the wines of Monterrei. Regarding the reds, it is a great vintage, with fruit, freshness, with a sublime and very persistent mouth”.
In order to evaluate the present harvest, a proportional representation of wines of the denomination has been submitted to the panel. These samples have been analyzed by each of the tasters, who have made a “blind” assessment of all of them, thus maintaining objectivity criteria as anonymous samples. The final note was obtained by calculating the mean of the scores awarded by each taster to each of the samples, including in this calculation both the references of whites and reds. Finally, this score has been moved to a correlation table where the harvest grade is obtained.
The tasting panel consisted of the following experts:
- Maira Raton (representative member of the Association of Winemakers of Galicia).
- María Ángeles Rodríguez (journalist for the newspaper O Sil).
- Pedro Sestayo (president of the Galician Sommeliers’ Association ‘Gallaecia’).
- Rodrigo A. Enríquez (technical representative of C.R.D.O. Valdeorras).
- Ruth Fernández (technical representative of the C.R.D.O. Ribeira Sacra).
- Rebeca André (Official Panel of the C.R.D.O. Monterrei).
