The latest edition of the Peñín Guide has recognized with scores of 90 points and more than a total of 27 wines of the Designation of Origin Monterrei.
This publication recognises a total of 68 wines covered by the designation of origin Monterrei. In addition to the 27 whites and reds that have between 90 and 95 points (excellent), another 39 have been rated as very good wines (between 86-89 points). The wines qualified as excellent and very good belong to processors such as Pazo das Tapias, Pazo Blanco Núñez (Tapias Mariñán), Ladairo, José Luis Mateo García (Quinta da Muradella), Crego e Monaguillo, Alba Al-Bar (Daniel Fernández), Fragas do Lecer, Gargalo, José Antonio Da Silva Pereira (Vinos Lara), Manuel Guerra Justo (Vía Arxéntea), Pazos del Rey, Quinta do Buble, Fausto Rivero Pardo (Quinta Soutullo) or Terras do Cigarrón, among others.
The Guide indicates that the whites of Monterrei are “intense and fruity, tasty and fresh in the mouth, with a good alcohol-acidity balance”. For its part, the publication details that “the young reds have a good fruity character”, while the reds with aging “begin to gain weight in the area thanks to the good balance between the fruit and the nuances of the aging”.
These results attest to “the excellent work being done in our wine-growing territory”, points out Lara Da Silva, president of the Regulatory Council, “where winegrowers and winemakers give the best of themselves to produce better quality wines every year”.
