Wines from the Monterrei D.O. win awards at the 40th edition of the Baco Awards: 1 Grand Gold, 5 Golds, and 7 Silvers
03/06/2026The Monterrei Designation of Origin presented its wines in the city of Mallorca on June 1 at a professional tasting event held on the terrace of Es Baluard, a prime location overlooking the harbor.
The presentation in Palma served to introduce the Balearic market to the winemaking work of the Monterrei D.O. and strengthen its presence in Mallorca, a strategic territory due to its ties to the restaurant industry, Mediterranean cuisine, and high-end tourism. The event also provided an opportunity to establish direct contact with professionals in distribution, hospitality, and food media in the Balearic Islands.
At this event, organized by the Monterrei Designation of Origin Regulatory Council itself, attendees were able to taste 29 white wines and 16 red wines from 22 wineries representing Monterrei, whose quality and uniqueness did not go unnoticed among the guests. The participating wineries were: Pazo Blanco Núñez (Tapias Mariñán), Ladairo, Fragas do Lecer, Minius, Daniel Fernández (Alba Al-Bar), Franco Basalo, Trasdovento, Triay, Terras do Cigarrón, Pazo de Valdeconde, Vía Arxéntea, Tabú, Terra de Godello, Gargalo, Father 1943, Crego e Monaguillo, Manuel Regueiro García (Serra de Alén), Fausto Rivero Pardo (Quinta Soutullo), Ramón Bigotes, Quinta do Buble, Jose Luis Gómez Ibáñez (Valderello), and Manuel Vázquez Losada.
“Mallorca is an exclusive destination where Monterrei wines must continue to establish their presence and showcase the quality and distinctive character that set them apart. We are committed to maintaining our presence here; our wines are the perfect complement to the Balearic Islands’ climate and cuisine,” says Manuel Vázquez Losada, president of the C.R.D.O. Monterrei.
