25/05/2026The Monterrei Designation of Origin has been honored at the Baco Awards, Spain’s most important and longest-running national competition for young wines, organized annually by the Spanish Union of Wine Tasters (UEC)
This prestigious competition has just celebrated its 40th anniversary, exclusively evaluating wines from the most recent harvest, in which the wines of the Monterrei Designation of Origin have once again demonstrated their excellent quality and uniqueness, earning a total of 13 awards: 1 Grand Gold Baco, 5 Gold Baco, and 7 Silver Baco.

About the Monterrei D.O.
D.O. Monterrei is one of the five Galician wine designations of origin. It encompasses the municipalities of Verín, Monterrei, Vilardevós, Riós, Oímbra, Castrelo do Val, Laza, and Cualedro. It comprises 30 wineries. The vineyards of this D.O. cover a total of 852 hectares of land, where 397 winegrowers work.
