Wines from 18 wineries in the Monterrei D.O. will be featured at Prowein 2026

This coming Saturday, March 7, the Verín City Council will open registration for guided wine tastings of Monterrei Designation of Origin wines, paired with Galician products—one of the culinary activities taking place as part of the 2026 Lázaro Fair in collaboration with the Monterrei D.O.
The sessions will take place on March 21 and 22 in the activity area of the fair pavilion, featuring a participatory format that will allow attendees to better understand the characteristics and pairing possibilities of the region’s wines with Galician cuisine.
The tastings will be led by the technical director of the Monterrei D.O., Miguel López, alongside the chef and manager of the restaurant O Segredo do Retiro, José Luis Prieto, who will offer a combined perspective from the fields of oenology and gastronomy to explain the key aspects of pairing wines with Galician products.
The program includes three sessions:

These activities aim to showcase the quality and diversity of Monterrei D.O. wines, while strengthening the relationship between the wine sector and Galician gastronomy as part of one of the most iconic events on Verín’s festive and commercial calendar.
