
The D.O. Monterrei receives the visit of the expert Beth Willard

The Verín City Council is opening registration for guided wine tastings of Monterrei D.O. wines at the 2026 Lázaro Fair.
05/03/2026Wines from the appellation will be featured at Barcelona Wine Week, which will take place from February 2 to 4. This marks the fifth time that Monterrei’s protected wines have been promoted at this wine fair, which will bring together 85 quality labels and more than 1,300 wineries.
As in previous editions, the Regulatory Council will have its own space, where information will be provided on the region’s soil and climate, wine types, grape varieties, and winemaking traditions, among other topics. In addition, visitors to the stand will be able to sample wines from the following registered wineries: Minius, Ladairo, Pazo de Valdeconde, Alba Al-Bar (Daniel Fernández), Vía Arxéntea, Crego e Monaguillo, Fragas do Lecer, Gargalo, José Antonio Da Silva Pereira (Vinos Lara), José Luis Mateo García (Quinta da Muradella), Manuel Vázquez Losada, Pazo Blanco Núñez (Tapias Mariñán), Terras do Cigarrón, Triay, José Luis Gómez Ibañez (Valderello), Abeledos, Quinta do Buble, Tabú, Terra de Godello, and Pazo das Tapias.
By participating in this trade show, the organization aims to make an impact on the professional sector. “The last edition attracted 25,700 professionals, 20% of whom were international attendees from countries such as the United States, Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and China,” says Manuel Vázquez Losada, president of the Monterrei Designation of Origin (C.R.D.O.). “Being present at Barcelona Wine Week is essential for our wines; this event will boost the Monterrei brand’s positioning in the national and international markets while allowing us to capitalize on business opportunities, establish new marketing channels for our wineries, and showcase the potential of our excellent wines,” he adds.
About the Monterrei D.O.
The Monterrei D.O. is one of the five Galician wine designations of origin. It encompasses the municipalities of Verín, Monterrei, Vilardevós, Riós, Oímbra, Castrelo do Val, Laza, and Cualedro. It comprises 29 wineries. The vineyards of this D.O. cover a total of 852 hectares of land, where 397 winegrowers work.
