15/04/2026The Monterrei Designation of Origin will be present from April 13 to 16 at the 39th edition of the Salón Gourmets, the International Fair of Quality Food and Beverages, to be held in Madrid.
The Monterrei D.O. will participate under the auspices of the Galician Food Quality Agency (AGACAL), as part of an initiative designed to promote Galicia as a premier food and wine destination, which will help boost Monterrei wines and open new marketing channels for them.
The Monterrei Designation of Origin will participate in the form of a wine tunnel, where the wine-growing region and its characteristics will be presented, and where visitors can sample wines from 18 wineries registered under the designation: Minius, Triay, Terras do Cigarrón, Gargalo, Valderello, Fragas do Lecer, Crego e Monaguillo, Tabú, Tapias de Mariñan (Pazo Blanco Nuñez), Terra de Godello, Pazo das Tapias, Ladairo, Manuel Regueiro García (Serra de Alén), Pazo de Valdeconde, Alba Al-Bar (Daniel Fernández), Vía Arxéntea, Ramón Bigotes and Manuel Vázquez Losada
In addition, wines from the Monterrei D.O. will also be featured in show cooking events and wine tastings, showcasing to the public the perfect pairings with Monterrei wines as well as the unique characteristics that make the wines of this region special.
“The last edition attracted more than 115,000 professionals and over 2,000 exhibitors, cementing its status as a leading event in Europe,” says Manuel Vázquez, president of the organization. “We remain committed to participating in Salón Gourmets, strengthening the Monterrei brand by showcasing the excellent-quality wines produced in our region and opening new marketing channels.”
About the Monterrei D.O.
D.O. Monterrei is one of the five Galician wine designations of origin. It encompasses the municipalities of Verín, Monterrei, Vilardevós, Riós, Oímbra, Castrelo do Val, Laza, and Cualedro. It comprises 30 wineries. The vineyards of this D.O. cover a total of 852 hectares of land, where 397 winegrowers work.
