
The 2025 Vintage of D.O. Monterrei Receives an “Excellent” Rating
19/07/2026The three-day celebration of the 19th Monterrei Wine Fair will begin on August 7, featuring a wide-ranging programme of cultural, wine and gastronomic, and musical activities.
The main attraction will be the wine fair, held in Alameda Square, where the following wineries will participate in this year’s edition: Vía Arxéntea, Crego e Monaguillo, Gargalo, Terras do Cigarrón, Manuel Vázquez – Viticultor, Father 1943, Ramón Bigotes, 3 Mentiras, Estela do Val, Ladairo, Adegas Tapias Mariñán, Adega Pazo das Tapias, Adegas Daniel Fernández, Serra de Alén, Triay, Abeledos, Setembro, Quinta do Buble and Valderello.
The opening hours of the winery stands will be as follows: Friday from 8:00 p.m. to midnight (advance ticket sales from 7:00 p.m.), Saturday, August 9, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., and Sunday, August 10, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to midnight.
In addition to the winery stands, visitors will also find a variety of food stalls to suit every taste, including Cárnicas de Feces, Juan Álvarez Cortador de Jamón, Panadería Germán, Jamones Don Francisco, Varzea Açai, Luan’s, Panadería Roscas y Lolo, Taiyo Sushi, Punto Criollo, Food Truck A Leñeira and Casa do Pulpo.
The official opening ceremony of the 19th Monterrei Wine Fair will take place on Friday at 8:00 p.m. in García Barbón Square. The opening speech will be delivered by footballer Antía Pérez, a native of Laza. Earlier that day, at 6:30 p.m., the Medal Award Ceremony of the Brotherhood of Monterrei Wines will be held at the Parish Church of Verín. This year’s honourees are Vicente Rodríguez Jiménez, Enrique Fernández Pérez and José Luis Mateo García. Admission will be free until full capacity is reached.
On August 9 and 10, the programme will continue with guided wine tastings and live cooking demonstrations for adult audiences. Scheduled activities include the cooking show “Atlantic Alchemy in Monterrei Cuisine 2026”, led by Begoña Vázquez and Miguel López; the guided tasting “All Roads Lead to Monterrei: Past – Present – Future”, hosted by sommelier Mariña Fernández Toro; and the cooking show “Authentic Flavours: Organic Seafood Preserves Paired with Monterrei D.O. Wines”, presented by José Luis Prieto and Miguel López.
For younger visitors, traditional children’s games will take place inside Alameda Park throughout the weekend from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
