Monterrei, the first Galician wine appellation with a tenth of National Lottery
The first Galician wine denomination that will have a tenth of National Lottery will be that of Monterrei. This has been confirmed by State Lotteries and Betting (SELAE) to the Regulatory Council, following the request made by the entity.
Thus the tenth of the Draw of 22 June will be dedicated to the Denomination of Origin Monterrei. “This is excellent news for the denomination, in which we have been working since the Presidency for more than three years,” says Lara Da Silva Rodríguez.
The germ of this good news is placed on May 13, 2019, when the Wine Meeting of the Real Casino of Madrid took place entitled “Sumillería, commemoration of 2 centuries of history”. This anniversary was commemorated with the issuance of another tenth of National Lottery (at the initiative of Carlos Mateu, founder and director of catadelvino.com). After that event, led by Eliseo González (Real Casino de Madrid), Luis Paadín (sommelier) and Lara Da Silva, SELAE was asked to include the image of the D.O. Monterrei in one of the National Lottery Draws, in order to support the wine culture, for its historical, cultural, social and economic importance in the country.
