09/07/2025The headquarters of the Consello Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Monterrei has hosted the 2024 Harvest Tasting.
This tasting was attended by representatives of professional associations, media, vivinitícola Regulatory Councils and the official panel of the designation, which have rated as “very good” the 2024 vintage of Monterrei wines. This tasting team has highlighted: “everything that has been tasted was very good, they are very fresh wines, with a lot of personality and that reflect very well the terroir of Monterrei, both in white and reds”.
In order to evaluate the current harvest, a proportional representation of wines of the denomination has been submitted to the panel. These samples have been analysed by each of the tasters, who have made a “blind” assessment of all of them, thus maintaining objectivity criteria since they are anonymous samples. The final grade has resulted from the calculation of the average of the scores given by each taster to each of the samples, including in this calculation both white and red references. Finally, this score has been moved to a correlation table where the crop rating is obtained.
The tasting panel was composed of the following experts:
- Lorena Alonso (member representing the Association of Winemakers of Galicia).
- Maruxa Alfonso (journalist for Somos Agro – La Voz de Galicia).
- Javier Pérez (member of the Tasting Panel of the Regulatory Board of D.O. Rías Baixas).
- Vania González (member of the Tasting Panel of the Regulatory Board of D.O Monterrei).
- Begoña Gómez (member of the Tasting Panel of the Regulatory Board of D.O Monterrei).
- Rebeca André (member of the Tasting Panel of the Regulatory Board of D.O Monterrei).
