The Monterrei Designation of Origin participates in the event “Vinos y Viños. Tegueste y Galicia se encuentran”
18/11/2025The Regulatory Council of D.O. Monterrei continues with its calendar of promotional actions for this 2025, with the realization of the last of them in Seville and Jerez de la Frontera.
During two days, the entity has carried out three complementary initiatives with the aim of strengthening awareness and visibility of the denomination, positioning the Monterrei brand in the Andalusian market and helping to open new marketing channels. More than three hundred people have been part of some of them, destined to the hospitality, distribution, sommelier, oenophiles and catering schools.
The first activity has been framed within Verema Sevilla, where the denomination has its own space in which to present the particularities of this territory, soil and climate characteristics, grape varieties and wine typologies. Over a hundred people attended, 80% of them in the hotel and distribution sector (restaurants, wine bars, specialist shops and local distributors).
The second, held in the IES Heliópolis, Atenea and Maese Rodrigo educational centers, has been set up under the format of a training seminar and wine tunnel, with the purpose of promoting knowledge of the territory, native varieties and production typologies. 180 students/s and teachers from the middle and upper stages of hotel and restaurant management in these Spanish schools have participated.
And the last one has been addressed to the Association of Sommeliers of Cádiz. Through a technical session focused on the guided tasting of wines representative of Monterrei, the climatic and varietal characteristics of the designation have been addressed, with special attention to its uniqueness within the Galician oenological map. It was held in Jerez de la Frontera with the participation of 25 members of the association.
This is the first promotional action promoting the name in these two cities, and it has been joined by the following wineries: Ladairo, Pazo das Tapias, Gargalo, Castro de Lobarzán, José Luis Gómez Ibáñez (Valderello), José Antonio Da Silva Pereira (Vinos Lara), Crego e Monaguillo, Minius, Terras do Cigarrón, Triay, Pazo Blanco Núñez (Tapias Mariñán), Fragas do Lecer, Vía Arxéntea, Abeledos, Pazo de Valdeconde, Tabú, Alba Al-Bar (Daniel Fernández), Fausto Rivero (Quinta Soutullo), Manuel Vázquez Losada, Alejandro Ramón Blanco Dijkhoff (Ramón Bigotes) and Terra de Godello.
“The realization of this action has allowed us to show our wine territory to a significant number of specializers, distributors and professionals in the sector; and it follows the line of the entity when opening new markets and consolidating existing ones”, indicates the president of the C.R.D.O. Monterrei, Manuel Vázquez Losada.
