The Monterrei D.O. showcases the character of its wines in an exclusive wine tunnel in Madrid

The Monterrei Designation of Origin traveled to the city of San Sebastián on June 8 to present its wines and its new promotional campaign at a professional tasting event held at the prestigious Hotel Londres, located across from La Concha Beach on San Sebastián’s boardwalk
The presentation in this iconic northern city began with a tasting for sommeliers who are members of the Gipuzkoa Sommeliers Association (ASUGI), followed by attendance from professionals in distribution, the HORECA sector, and the trade press. This event allowed attendees to discover a wide selection of wines through a dynamic and engaging format. The showroom generated significant interest among the more than 80 professionals in attendance, who highly praised the quality of the wines, the work of the wineries and winemakers, the gastronomic versatility, and the balance between tradition and innovation that characterizes Monterrei’s wines.
At this tasting event organized by the Monterrei Designation of Origin Regulatory Council itself, attendees were able to sample 27 white wines and 14 red wines from 22 wineries representing Monterrei. The participating wineries were: Pazo Blanco Núñez (Tapias Mariñán), Ladairo, Fragas do Lecer, Minius, Daniel Fernández (Alba Al-Bar), Franco Basalo, Trasdovento, Triay, Terras do Cigarrón, Pazo de Valdeconde, Vía Arxéntea, Tabú, Terra de Godello, Gargalo, Father 1943, Crego e Monaguillo, Manuel Regueiro García (Serra de Alén), Fausto Rivero Pardo (Quinta Soutullo), Ramón Bigotes, Quinta do Buble, Jose Luis Gómez Ibáñez (Valderello), and Manuel Vázquez Losada.

About the Monterrei D.O.
D.O. Monterrei is one of the five Galician wine designations of origin. It encompasses the municipalities of Verín, Monterrei, Vilardevós, Riós, Oímbra, Castrelo do Val, Laza, and Cualedro. It comprises 30 wineries. The vineyards of this D.O. cover a total of 852 hectares of land, where 397 winegrowers work.
